UGC NET Cut Off Marks 2022: Paper/Category-wise Cut Off

UGC NET Cut-Off 2023: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to announce the UGC NET cut-off for the December cycle when the results are declared. The UGC NET exam is scheduled to take place from December 6 to 2023, 2023.

The cut-off information will be provided in a PDF format, and you can find it on the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Additionally, candidates have the option to review the cut-off details from the June cycle and the previous session.

The UGC NET cut-off is presented in two formats: i) Percentile-wise cut-off and ii) Percentage-wise cut-off. Both PDFs are available in the Public Notices section on the official website.

The primary purpose of the UGC NET exam is to assess the eligibility of candidates for the role of Assistant Professor and to grant Fellowship awards for pursuing a PhD sponsored by the Indian government.

UGC NET Cut Off Marks 2023

UGC NET 2023 Cut Off marks will be released after the declaration of results. Candidates have to obtain the minimum cut-off marks to get selected for the merit list.

The merit list will be prepared category-wise and subject-wise for each subject. Only the top 6% of qualified candidates will be considered for the Junior Research Fellowship programme.

Candidates can check the cut-off marks after their declaration by the officials. It will be made available only through online mode.

How To Calculate UGC NET Cut-Off Marks Score

To determine the cutoff for UGC NET, NTA takes a few steps. The following is a brief description of the procedure:

Step 1: The total number of eligible candidates in the exam must equal 6% of the total number of candidates who took both papers.
Step 2: The total number of slots allotted to candidates from various groups under the Government of India’s reservation policy.
Step 3: The minimum marks that candidates must achieve in order to be eligible for a JRF award and/or Assistant Professor eligibility are mentioned in the table below:

UGC NET Cut Off Marks For JRF Calculation Procedure

NTA selects a certain number from the top 6% of UGC NET qualified candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) based on eligibility criteria.

You should know that the upper age limit for general category candidates is 30 years as on the dates prescribed. The upper age limit is 33 years for reserved category candidates.

A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC NCL/SC/ST/PwD/, Transgender categories and to women applicants.

The total number of slots available for awarding UGC NET JRF is according to the categories as per the reservation policy of the Government of India.

The procedure for subject-wise cum category-wise allocation of JRF slots is illustrated below.

Example:

Number of candidates to be declared qualified for JRF & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in the subject ‘Economics’ for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category

A number of candidates belonging to the ST category who have opted for JRF and have qualified for Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in the subject ‘Economics’ (x) Total JRF slots available for ST category (÷) Total number of candidates belonging to ST category overall subjects who have opted for JRF and have qualified for Eligibility for Assistant Professor.

UGC NET Cut Off For Assistant Professor Calculation Procedure

The aggregate percentage of the two papers corresponding to the number of slots that arrived will determine the qualifying cut-off for Assistant Professor.

Example:

Number of candidates to be declared qualified for Assistant Professor in the subject for the Scheduled Caste (SC) category

A number of candidates belonging to the SC category who secure at least 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for the SC category for the subject (x) Total slots derived for SC category as per Step II (÷) Total number of candidates belonging to SC category over all subjects who secure at least 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together.

I met the minimum passing marks for the UGC NET exam for Assistant Professor, but I still didn’t qualify. Why?

To qualify for the UGC NET exam, candidates must pass both Paper 1 and Paper 2. They need at least 40% marks (for the Unreserved category) and 35% marks overall. However, among those who pass, only the top 6% are selected for the Assistant Professor role.

I want my UGC NET score to be re-evaluated. How can I do that?

There’s no provision for re-evaluating or re-checking UGC NET results. The official notice states that no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. Candidates can only raise objections against the provisional answer key, and the final answer key and result are determined based on these objections.
