UGC NET Paper-II is a subject-based paper. It covers 100 MCQ-type questions (multiple choices with a single correct answer), each consisting of two marks.
NTA UGC NET Paper-II is based on the entire syllabus of the master’s degree subject. So, you must have depth knowledge of the subject to qualify for the exam.
There are 81 subjects included in paper 2 for NTA UGC NET. You have to select one subject for the exam. Generally, the subject should be the same as your post-graduation subject.

Important Points about UGC NET Paper-II Exam Pattern
- For every correct answer, you will get 2 marks.
- There is no negative marking for an incorrect response.
- No marks will be given for questions Unanswered/ Marked for Review.
- For incorrect/ambiguous questions during the key challenge, you would be given the credit only for attempted questions and chosen one of the correct answers.
- Only for dropped question(s), if any, marks will be given to all the candidates.
UGC NET Marking Scheme 22
UGC NET has uniform marking i.e. for both Paper I & Paper II, each correct answer will fetch you 2 marks.
- Each question carries 02 (two) marks.
- For each correct response, the candidate will get 02 (two) marks.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect responses.
- No marks will be given for questions un-answered/un-attempted/marked for Review.
- To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as the correct option.
- If a question is found to be incorrect/ambiguous during the Key Challenge, only those candidates who have attempted the question and chosen one of the correct answers would be given the credit. Only for dropped question(s), if any, marks will be given to all the candidates.
- In case a Question is dropped due to some technical error, full marks shall be given to the candidates who have attempted it.

UGC NET Medium of Question Paper 22
- The medium of the Question Paper shall be in English & Hindi only.
- The option of medium of Question Paper should be carefully chosen by the Candidate while filling the Application Form online. The option once exercised cannot be changed.
- Candidates opting for Hindi medium in the Application Form will be given bilingual paper, but candidates opting for English medium will be given English version only.
- Candidates are required to answer in the medium as per the option exercised in the Application Form.
- In case of any ambiguity in the translation/construction of a question in the exam, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.
