NTA UGC NET Exam 2025: The UGC NET 2024 answer key was released on January 31, 2025, at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Candidates can challenge the answers until February 3, 2025 (6:00 PM) on the official website.

The exam dates for the UGC NET December 2024 session were changed. The exam for 85 subjects took place from January 3 to January 27, 2025. Admit cards for exams scheduled between January 6 and 9, 2025, are available on ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

The deadline to apply for the UGC NET December session was extended to December 11, 2024, and the last date to pay the application fee was December 12, 2024. Candidates could edit their applications from December 13 to 14, 2024 (until 11:50 PM).

NTA UGC NET Exam 2025

The UGC NET exam date for June 2025 cycle has been declared by University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar. The exam for the June 2025 cycle will be conducted from June 13 to 2025, 2025.

The NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct UGC-NET, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), which is now known as the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GOI), has established the National Testing Agency (NTA).

NTA was created as an independent, autonomous, and self-sustained premier testing organization under the Societies Registration Act (1860).

It was created to conduct efficient, transparent, and international standards test to assess the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions.

About University Grants Commission (UGC)

The University Grant Commission (UGC) is a Statuary body of the Government of India, Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, constituted under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956), vested with two responsibilities:

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2025

You should know the complete UGC NET Eligibility Criteria before start filling the online application form. You must meet the eligibility conditions mentioned by NTA.

UGC NET Exam Educational Qualification Requirement

  • You must score at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in Post-Graduation or equivalent from any recognized university.
  • The final-year students are also eligible to appear in the exam. But they will be accepted for the award of JRF or professorship after passing the Master’s Degree with minimum qualifying marks.
  • If you are a PhD degree holder and the post-graduation exam was completed before September 19, 1991, then you are provided with an additional relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks requirement.

UGC NET Exam Age Limit

  • Assistant Professorship: There is no age limit for UGC NET Assistant Professorship.
  • Junior Research Fellowship: The upper age limit is 30 years. The age relaxation will be applicable for reserved categories candidates as per the government of India norms.

You have to fill UGC NET 2025 Online Form at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

  • Firstly, you need to visit the official website, i.e., ugcnet.nta.nic.in, and click on Apply online to fill out the registration page.
  • Now, enter your personal details, email ID, and mobile number.
  • After completion of registration, you will find a system-generated application number in your email Id and mobile number.

UGC NET Application Correction 2025

NTA provides the correction facility to every registered candidate individually. The correction window shall open on the official website. Candidates will be able to rectify any mistake that might have occurred during filling up application forms. A specific period of correction facility shall be given. Candidates cannot correct after the last date of the correction facility is over.

Note:

  • No candidates shall be allowed to submit the application form after the last date.
  • It is advised that candidates keep a printed copy of the filled application form and the payment receipt for future reference.
  • Any alteration or discrepancy may cause rejection of the application form.

Medium of UGC NET Question Paper

You must be aware of your medium of UGC NET Question Paper. Make sure to select the proper medium while filling out the online application form.

  • The medium of the Question Paper shall be in English & Hindi only.
  • You should carefully select the option of the medium of Question Paper while filling out the Application Form online. The option, once exercised, cannot be changed.
  • If you opt for the Hindi medium, then the Application Form will be given bilingual paper. But if you are opting for the English medium will only be given English versions.
  • You must answer in the medium as per the option exercised in the Application Form.
  • In case of any ambiguity in the translation/construction of a question in the exam, its English version shall be treated as final, and the decision of NTA Shall be final in this regard.

UGC NET Marking Scheme

  • Each question carries 02 (two) marks.
  • For each correct response, you will get 02 (two) marks.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect responses.
  • No marks will be given for questions un-answered/un-attempted/marked for Review.
  • To answer a question, you need to choose one option as the correct option.
  • If a question is found to be incorrect/ambiguous during the Key Challenge, only those who have attempted the question and chosen one of the correct answers would be given credit. Only for dropped question(s), if any, marks will be given to all of you.
  • If a Question is dropped due to some technical error, full marks shall be given to you who have attempted it.

You have to download UGC NET 2025 Admit Card only from the official website. You need to log in with your registration number and date of birth.

UGC NET Exam Centres

UGC NET Exam 2025 will be conducted in 20254 cities. You have to select the four exam cities in order of their preference while filling out the UGC NET 2025 Application Form.

NTA will allow the UGC NET Exam Centre based on your preference. Sometimes, NTA adds or cancels an exam in any city if the number of applicants for that city is negligible. You must bring your Admit Card, one passport-size photo, and an original photo ID proof with its photocopy.

UGC NET Exam Day Guidelines 2025 

National Testing Agency issues an advisory stating some guidelines for UGC NET aspirants. All candidates are recommended to read the advisory and instructions mentioned on the admit card carefully. Candidates can also go through the instructions given below for better clarity.

  • Candidates must reach the test centre as per the reporting time mentioned on the admit card;
  • Candidates should read the instructions on the admit card carefully and follow them during the exam.
  • Candidates can only enter the exam hall with the admit card and photo ID proof.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centre after 8.30 am in the first shift and after 2.30 pm in the second shift.
  • Candidates should report to the exam room at the centres by 8.45 am in the first shift and by 2.45 pm in the second shift.
  • Candidates must stay in the UGC NET exam hall before the paper ends.
  • Upon completion of the paper, candidates must wait for instructions from the invigilator and must wait to get up from their seats to leave the exam hall.
  • Candidates wearing special attire, such as the burqa, hijab, turban, etc., must reach the exam centre early for thorough checking.
  • Candidates should sit on the seat indicating their roll numbers only. The candidature will stand cancelled if candidates change their room or seat on their own.
  • Candidates must ensure that the UGC NET question paper 2025 available on the computer is as per their opted subject. In case otherwise, candidates must bring the same to the notice of the invigilator.
  • Calculations and rough work are to be done only on the rough sheet provided at the centres.
  • No candidate should involve in any unfair practices during the exam.

UGC NET 2025 is a computer-based test and candidates are given a pen/pencil and blank sheets for rough work. However, candidates are still advised to carry a pen/pencil to the exam Centre to avoid any last-minute hassle.

  • UGC NET aspirants are not allowed to carry any instrument, metallic item, or electronic gadgets/devices to the exam hall. It may be noted that there might also not be any provision for the safe keeping of candidates’ valuables. Things that are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall include:

Documents that you must carry at the UGC NET exam Centre are:

  • Admit card: You need to carry a clear printout of the downloaded UGC NET admit card from the NTA website
  • Passport size photo: You need to carry one passport-size photograph (same as uploaded on the application form) that is pasted on the attendance sheet at the exam Centre
  • ID proof: You need to carry a valid and original photo ID proof such as,

  • Voter ID card

  • Aadhaar Card (with the photograph)/e-Aadhaar
  • Ration Card to the test Centre.

Note: The official website informs, “ID cards issued by schools/colleges/universities/coaching Centres, Aadhar enrollment receipt without Aadhar number and photocopies or images stored in mobile phones, etc are NOT accepted.”

  • PwD certificate: If you want to claim relaxation under the PwD category must carry your PwD certificate issued by the competent authority

Read the instructions on the admit card carefully.

Do not indulge in any unfair practice at the exam Centre. All exam centres are under CCTV surveillance and equipped with jammers.

Visit the exam Centre a day before the exam to make yourself familiar with the location and means of reaching the venue.

Do not forget to carry the NET admit card and other documents to the exam Centre.

Reach the exam Centre as per the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. Candidates reporting beyond the gate closing time of the Centre will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.

Do not carry mobiles, watches, or any other gadgets to the exam Centre.

Remember to return the rough sheet and admit card to the invigilator before leaving the exam hall.

Do not carry any eatables or water inside the exam hall.

Enter all required details in the attendance sheet in legible handwriting and ensure that the left-hand thumb Impression is clear and not smudged.

You should know that the National Testing Agency (NTA) releases UGC NET Provisional Answer Keys along with candidates’ response sheets and question papers for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 on the official website.

  • You can check your recorded responses and the answer keys and estimate the scores.
  • You can raise objections online by paying a fee of INR 1000 per question.
  • Your fees will be refunded if the objections are approved by the agency.
